Assets that power the world for today and make it better for tomorrow

Kent PLC designs, builds and maintains assets across the energy system for global and regional energy companies and project developers. It sees projects through from consulting to design, build, commissioning and start-up through to maintenance and decommissioning. The sub-markets it works within are: Conventional Oil and Gas (which includes decarbonisation), Low Carbon and Renewable Energies (Gas, Offshore Wind, Hydrogen, Carbon Capture and Storage, Waste to Liquids), and Process and Chemicals.

Why join The Solent Cluster?

Kent is active in a number of UK decarbonisation clusters, as a founding member of the North West Hydrogen Alliance and is active in a number of Hynet projects. This will prove to be invaluable experience in its work with The Solent Cluster. Kent believes that UK decarbonisation clusters are essential, not only for the UK to achieve Net Zero, but to ensure the local and national economy thrives in the future.

The Solent Cluster will help Kent continue to grow and invest in the UK and in Southern England. With an active membership group, Kent will have the opportunity to meet and network with like minded organisations and share insights that enable strong effective decisions.

Bringing the world energy responsibly

Kent is committed to being a compassionate catalyst for the energy transition. It is proud to be using its agility and knowledge to help its clients break new ground in renewable energy, whilst taking on the challenges of decarbonising conventional energy sources from within. This change will come from supporting and inspiring its teams, industry and society as a whole to tackle uncomfortable truths about the way the world uses energy.

Internally, it has created bold but credible science-led Net Zero plans that focus on rapid, deep and achievable emission cuts for Kent, its employees and suppliers. Aims include that by 2027, a third of its revenue will come from activities associated with the production of low carbon and renewable energy sources; in 2023, it aims to develop a KPI and tracking dashboard for all major projects on how they have contributed to decarbonisation; and it aims to reach Net Zero across scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 2040.

For its clients, Kent has designed the Blue Hydrogen Plant at Hynet; is currently carrying out pre-FEED on Harbour Energy’s Viking CO2 Transport and Storage system – working closely with emitters, and is currently carrying out EPC work at Fawley, Hampshire.

A force for good

Kent’s sustainability strategy recognises that it can be a force for good and can use its influence to influence others. It understands the issues at play and knows it has a responsibility to take action now. You will find more information on Kent’s sustainability strategy here and more information on decarbonisation here.

“At Kent, we build low-carbon solutions into every project strategy. By maximising energy efficiency through design, we are able to decarbonise without relying on costly engineering effort. As part of The Solent Cluster, we are dedicated to working with other partners, to firmly establish the South Coast region as a leading clean energy hub.”
