The Cadland Estate (Melfort Ventures Ltd)
The Cadland Estate is a 3,000 acre mixed use farm and estate in the south east corner of the New Forest, bordering the Solent and Southampton Water. The farm is a mix of arable and beef cattle, while the wider estate comprises forestry, grazing, camping, fishing, 8.5 MW of solar, beach house, commercial and residential property lets. Its proximity to local energy infrastructure positions it as a key partner to carbon reduction strategies and Biodiversity Net Gain projects, and the estate has successfully completed a large BNG project as mitigation partner for a local developer.

UK Energy Storage (UKEn) is supporting the Solent Cluster by developing the UK’s largest underground hydrogen storage facility, providing the secure, flexible reserves needed to balance production and demand across the region. Designed to deliver up to 20% of the UK’s projected 2035 storage needs, the facility will strengthen hydrogen supply for the Cluster while offering both short-term and long-term system support.
